CHOCOLATE GLAZED POUND CAKE

INGREDIENTS

For the Cake

- 1½ cups all-purpose flour

- 1 cup sugar

- ½ cup butter, softened

- 3 eggs

- ½ cup cocoa powder

- ½ cup milk

- 1 tsp baking powder

- ¼ tsp salt

For the Glaze

- ½ cup dark chocolate, melted

- 2 tbsp heavy cream

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

2. Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix just until combined.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.

9. Mix the melted dark chocolate with heavy cream until smooth and glossy.

10. Pour the chocolate glaze over the cooled pound cake, letting it drip down the sides. Slice and serve.

TIPS

- Use room-temperature butter and eggs for a smoother batter.

- Do not overmix after adding the flour to keep the cake tender.

- Let the cake cool completely before adding the glaze.

- For a glossy glaze, make sure the melted chocolate is smooth before adding the cream.

- Pour the glaze slowly over the center and let it naturally drip down the sides.

- For clean slices, use a sharp knife and wipe it between cuts.
