Classic Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients
- For the cake:
- 1¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (400 g) sugar
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 1½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk
- ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240 ml) hot water or hot coffee
- For the chocolate ganache:
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake pan.
In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Slowly pour in hot water/coffee and mix gently (batter will be thin).
Pour into the pan and bake for 35–40 minutes.
Let cool completely.
Ganache:
Heat cream until hot (not boiling).
Pour over chopped chocolate.
Wait 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
Pour over cake and let set.
