Ingredients

  • For Chocolate Cake:

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup black coffee
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • For Frosting:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

For Chocolate Cake:

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans, then set them aside.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Using a mixer, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed for two minutes until fluffy. Add the eggs one by one, mixing and scraping down the sides. Pour in the milk, black coffee, and oil, then blend until smooth.

Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, keeping the mixer on low speed.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

For Frosting:

In a bowl, beat together butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until light and creamy.

Pour in the heavy whipping cream and continue beating for about five minutes.

Melt the chocolate chips, then blend them into the frosting mixture on medium speed until smooth.

Place the first cake layer on a stand, covering the top with frosting.

Add the second layer, spread frosting over the top and around the sides evenly.

Decorate as desired.
