Chocolate Moist Cake with Vanilla Buttercream

Ingredients:

  • For the Chocolate Moist Cake:

  •   1 ¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  •   ¾ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  •   2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  •   1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  •   1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  •   1 teaspoon salt
  •   2 large eggs
  •   1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  •   ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  •   2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  •   1 cup (240ml) boiling water or hot coffee

  • For the Vanilla Buttercream:

  •   1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
  •   4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
  •   2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  •   3–4 tablespoons (45-60ml) heavy cream or milk
  •   Pinch of salt

Instructions:

       Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch (or 9-inch) round cake pans with parchment paper.

        In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

        Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

        Gradually add the hot water or coffee, stirring until the batter is well combined. (The batter will be thin, but this ensures a moist cake!)

         Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans.

        Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

       Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Vanilla Buttercream:

       In a large bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer until creamy and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

       Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.

       Add vanilla extract and salt, then slowly add heavy cream or milk until you reach a smooth, spreadable consistency.

       Beat for another 2–3 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.

Assembly:

      Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of buttercream evenly on top and sides.

       Do the same process for the second and third layers.

      Smooth the frosting or create decorative swirls using a spatula.

       (Optional) Garnish with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fruit.
