They're delicious, beautiful, and absolutely worth making. Let's get into the recipe
📝 INGREDIENTS
Bread Dough:
All-purpose flour – 4 cups (500g)
Warm milk – 1 cup (240ml)
Sugar – ¼ cup (50g)
Butter – ¼ cup (55g)
1 large egg (50g without shell)
Instant yeast – 2¼ teaspoons (7g)
Salt – 1 teaspoon (5g)
Powdered milk – 2 tablespoons (15g), optional
Extra flour – for dusting
Egg Wash:
1 small egg (45–50g)
Milk – 1 tablespoon (15ml)
🍳 LET'S MAKE THESE BEAUTIES!
STEP 1: Mix the warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast in a bowl. Add the egg and melted butter. Mix well.
STEP 2: Add the flour, powdered milk, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
STEP 3: Knead for 10–15 minutes until the dough is smooth, soft, and elastic. Avoid adding too much extra flour.
STEP 4: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and allow to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
STEP 5: Gently punch down the dough and divide into 12–15 equal portions.
STEP 6: Take one portion and divide it into five smaller pieces. Roll each into a thin oval.
STEP 7: Arrange the five ovals in an overlapping line. Roll them gently together to create a beautiful rose shape.
STEP 8: Pinch the bottom firmly and gently open the upper edges to reveal the petals.
Repeat with the remaining dough.
STEP 9: Arrange the roses in a greased baking pan, cover, and allow to rise for another 30–45 minutes.
STEP 10: Whisk the egg and milk together and gently brush over the roses.
STEP 11: Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 18–25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
STEP 12: Brush with butter while still warm for that gorgeous shine and extra softness.
And there you have it! 🌹 Beautiful homemade bread roses ready to steal the show!
❤️ MY LITTLE BAKING TIPS
Soft dough means softer bread.
Thin petals make prettier roses.
Seal the bottom properly.
Don't allow the shaped roses to overproof.
Cover briefly with a clean kitchen towel after brushing with butter to help keep them soft.
STORAGE: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
