⏱️ Prep time: 15 mins | 🌡️ Bake time: 45 mins | 🍰 Servings: 8–10 slices
🛒 Ingredients:
• 125g (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
• 150g (¾ cup) granulated sugar
• 4 large eggs (room temperature)
• 150g (1 ¼ cups) all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 pinch of salt
• 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 100g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate, melted (or 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder mixed with 2 tbsp warm milk)
• 2 tbsp milk
🥣 Instructions:
1. Prep the Oven & Pan: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a standard loaf pan and line it with baking paper.
2. Make the Base Batter: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
3. Mix Dry Ingredients: Sift in the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gently mix until combined into a smooth batter.
4. Divide the Batter: Separate the batter evenly into two bowls.
◦ Vanilla Layer: Add the vanilla extract and 1 tbsp of milk to bowl #1. Mix well.
◦ Chocolate Layer: Fold the melted dark chocolate (or cocoa mixture) and 1 tbsp of milk into bowl #2.
5. Assemble the Marble Effect: Alternating spoonfuls, dollop vanilla and chocolate batters into the loaf pan. Take a butter knife or wooden skewer and swirl through the batters once or twice for that classic marble look.
6. Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Cool & Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy! ☕
