Ingredients (for a 9-inch cake)

  • Chocolate Cake Batter

  • 2 eggs 🥚
  • 180g sugar 🍬
  • 120ml milk 🥛
  • 80ml vegetable oil 🫒
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 🌿
  • 200g flour 🌾
  • 40g cocoa powder 🍫
  • 1½ tsp baking powder 🧁
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt 🧂
  • 150ml hot water or hot coffee ☕

  • Chocolate Frosting

  • 200g butter, softened 🧈
  • 250g powdered sugar 🍬
  • 40g cocoa powder 🍫
  • 3–4 tbsp milk 🥛
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 🌿

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) 🔥. Grease and line two cake pans.

2️⃣ In a bowl whisk eggs and sugar until pale and slightly fluffy 🥚🍬.

3️⃣ Add milk, oil, and vanilla and mix well 🥛🫒

4️⃣ In another bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt 

5️⃣ Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until smooth.

6️⃣ Pour in hot water or coffee and mix until the batter becomes thin and silky ☕.

7️⃣ Divide batter between pans and bake 30–35 minutes ⏳.

8️⃣ Let cakes cool completely before frosting ❄️.

9️⃣ Prepare frosting:

Beat butter until creamy 🧈.

🔟 Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla. Beat until fluffy.

1️⃣1️⃣ Frost between layers and over the cake 😋.
