5-Ingredient Valentine Shortbread Heart Cookies
Ingredients
Unsalted butter – 1 cup (227g), softened
Powdered sugar – ½ cup (60g)
All-purpose flour – 2 cups (250g)
Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
Dark or milk chocolate – 150g, melted
Instructions
Cream the butter and powdered sugar together until smooth and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla, then gently fold in the flour until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
Roll the dough out between parchment paper to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut into heart shapes and place on a lined baking tray. Chill in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to help them keep their shape.
Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C / 325°F for 12–15 minutes, just until the edges are lightly set (no browning). Let the cookies cool completely.
Dip half of each cookie into melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles if desired. Allow the chocolate to set before serving or packaging.
