2-Layer Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
Cake
• 1 ¾ cups (220 g) flour
• ¾ cup (75 g) cocoa powder
• 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
• 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
• 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup (240 ml) milk
• ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
Optional Cream / Ganache
• 200 g chocolate
• ½ cup cream
Preparation
1️⃣ Prepare the Cakes
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Grease and flour two 8-inch (20 cm) cake pans.
3. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt) in a bowl.
4. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla, and beat until you have a smooth batter.
5. Slowly add the boiling water; the batter will be runny—this is normal.
6. Pour the batter evenly into the pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Test with a toothpick.
7. Let the cakes cool.
2️⃣ Ganache / Cream (Optional)
1. Heat the cream and add the chocolate.
2. Stir until smooth.
3. Spread between cake layers and on top.
3️⃣ Assembling the Cake
1. Place one cake layer on a serving plate.
2. Spread ganache or cream on top.
3. Place the second layer on top.
4. If desired, cover the top and sides again.
