Caramel Apple Spice Cake

Ingredients:

  • For the Cake:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup applesauce
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups chopped apples

  • For the Caramel Buttercream:

  • 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup caramel sauce
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease four 8-inch round cake pans.

In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.

Beat butter, oil, applesauce, and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.

Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Fold in apples.

Divide batter among pans and bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely.

For the frosting, beat butter, vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon. Gradually add powdered sugar.

Stack and frost the cake layers, then decorate with caramel and apple slices.
