  • For the cake:

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder ๐Ÿซ

  • 2 cups granulated sugar ๐Ÿš

  • 1 cup whole milk ๐Ÿฅ›
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil ๐ŸŒฑ
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1 cup boiling water ๐Ÿ’ง
  • 2 cups shredded coconut (for topping) ๐Ÿฅฅ

  • For the frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened ๐Ÿงˆ
  • 4 cups powdered sugar ๐Ÿฌ
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream ๐Ÿฅ›
  • 2 teaspoons coconut extract ๐ŸŒด
  • 1 cup shredded coconut (for frosting) ๐Ÿฅฅ

Step By Step๐Ÿ’ฅ

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round pans.

2️⃣ In a large bowl, stir together cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3️⃣ Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).

4️⃣ Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

 5️⃣ Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.

6️⃣ For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating to combine. Add heavy cream and coconut extract. Beat until fluffy.

7️⃣ Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with frosting and sprinkle with flaked coconut. Repeat with second layer. Top with third layer and frost top and sides of cake. Sprinkle top with flaked coconut.

8️⃣ Refrigerate until ready to serve.
